Disabled Student Programs & Services

For the past twenty years I have worked with persons with disabilities, first at Redwood School in the Learning Disabilities program and now at College of the Redwoods in the High Tech Center. Watching a person, regardless of age, learn to deal with his/her disability is inspiring. Whether it is an adaptation for the computer, compensatory strategy or an accommodation of some type that enables someone to be successful, it is rewarding to be a part of that discovery.

Except for time away at school and time my husband spent doing his graduate work at the University of Oregon, Del Norte County has always been my home. I attended Redwood, St. Joseph's, Del Norte High School, College of the Redwoods and Humboldt State University.

My family roots are planted deeply in Del Norte County. My father's family first settled in Fort Dick in 1853. My mother's family came to Klamath from Switzerland in the early 1900's. Watch who you talk about around me; they may be related!

Reading, collecting Quimper pottery, and traveling with my family are things that make me complete. Making plans for a trip whether to the beach or to  Paris is what I really enjoy. Some would say I am even obsessive about it. Yes, I do like to know where every is on an island and have the complete Metro map memorized. "You can't too be well prepared" is my motto. Spontaneity is not my most endearing quality. Our daughter says, "Slick (that's me), you can suck the fun out of most anything." I'm sure she's just kidding!
