The SSSP Student Mentor Program is all about students helping students adapt to the college environment and succeeding.  Mentors assist their fellow colleagues meet educational goals with confidence.  Together, mentors and students meet each challenge with enthusiasm.

WHAT DOES A MENTOR DO?

  • Builds trust with students and models successful academic skills and appropriate social behavior.
  • Provides encouragement to stay in college and complete a degree and/or transfer to a four year university.
  • Models and encourages self-advocacy-self-reliance.
  • Assists with workshops and student success monitoring.
  • A Mentor is a portable information booth for student questions,  resources, and referrals.
  • A Mentor is an active part of a student’s college life.
