Community and Economic DevelopmentTRUCK DRIVER TRAINING Truck Driving: Getting on the Road to Your Future . . . College of the Redwoods’ Truck Driver Training Program teaches background information, break-in skills, and offers behind-the-wheel training preparation for most trucking jobs. This intensive six-week course has 45 hours of lecture and 45 hours of “behind-the-wheel” instruction. Each student receives 45 additional hours of observation time in the truck.
Gauges and instruments Pre-trip inspection and safety Proper shifting techniques Brake systems and adjustments Paperwork How to seek employment . . . and more Upon completion of the course, the instructor will schedule the student’s DMV road test.

All prospective students must attend one evening informational meeting as a prerequisite for the program. Orientation for Truck Driving School is held six weeks before the start of class.
