Course Description: |
BT 17 fulfills A.S. degree
requirements and is transferable to four-year colleges. Upon completion of BT 17, you should be
able to ·
Use intermediate Microsoft Word features to create professional-looking
documents ·
Apply word processing technology to complete school, work, or personal
tasks ·
Enhance printed documents with graphic elements such as clip art,
borders and shading, WordArt, and drawings ·
Use Wizards and Templates to simplify formatting ·
Format Web pages with Microsoft Word ·
Use tables and to organize and present information --And much more! |

Microsoft
Word 2003, Expert ISBN 0-7638-2068-7
with SNAP (Benchmark Series) by Nita Rutkosky
SNAP is an on-line training and
assessment tool. You will access SNAP to complete scheduled on-line
tutorials, quizzes, and unit exams. You will be required to use a log-in name
and a password in order to access this tool, which is on the textbook
publisher’s Website.

weekend before CR classes begin on January 22 and remain accessible through finals
week ending May 17. |

On-Campus Requirement: |
There are no requirements to attend
on-campus meetings. All exams will be online. |

Student Requirements: |
Prerequisite: None Recommended: BT 16 (Word Processing I) You must have basic word processing skills to succeed in this class. |

Computer Set-Up and Skills |
Your Computer Skills: Online courses require adequate computer skills. You should be able to navigate websites and open and download files from the Internet. You must also be able to send documents to me as e-mail attachments or submit files to Blackboard. It is the student’s responsibility to meet the technological demands of the course. Computer Requirements: You must have Microsoft Word 2003 or 2007 installed on
your computer. The
software is not provided with this course. The course and textbook are
designed for Word 2003. If you have Word 2007, you will need to adjust the
textbook exercises to it. You must have regular access to the Internet for the semester. Most computers and Internet providers are adequate, but a high-speed connection is preferable. |

Online Commitment: |
This class requires at least as much time as a traditional class and greater self discipline. Plan for up to10 hours of work, including 2-3 hours online, each week. You will need to do the following: · read textbook chapters and do hands-on exercises · complete word processing assignments and send them to your instructor · complete scheduled on-line tutorials · take online quizzes and unit exams New assignments are posted every Tuesday. The class Blackboard site will be available at any hour of the day or night. There are no requirements to participate at any particular time of day. |

Waitlist Policy: |
If the class is closed, you should check it on WebAdvisor periodically before the beginning of the semester. It will open and close during the winter break depending on the number of students who drop the class before it begins. |

On or shortly after the first day of class on January 22, go to the Blackboard login site at http://bb.redwoods.edu/ Username and password instructions are available on this site. After you log in you will find a link to the class, where you will receive detailed instructions on how to proceed. You must participate fully by the end of the first week (Sunday) or you may be dropped from the class. |
