Waitlist Policy:

If the class is closed, you should check it on WebAdvisor periodically before the beginning of the semester. It will open and close depending on the number of students who drop the class before it begins. 

Course Description:

Upon completion of BT 91, you should be able to:

·     Create, edit, store, and retrieve PowerPoint electronic presentation files.

·     Incorporate simple digital media elements including images, audio,  text, animation, and interactivity into your presentations.

·     Use slide design and layout templates to enhance your slides.

·     Select and use PowerPoint features to create visually and rhetorically effective electronic presentations

Required Software

You must have Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 (part of Microsoft Office 2007) installed on your computer.

On-Campus Requirement:

There are no requirements to attend on-campus meetings. All exams will be online.

Prerequisite:  None

Recommended: Basic computer literacy: CIS 100 or CIS 1

Computer Set-Up and Skills

Your Computer Skills: Online courses require adequate computer skills. You should be able to navigate websites, open and download files. You must also be able to send documents to me as e-mail attachments or submit files to Blackboard. It is the student’s responsibility to meet the technological demands of the course.

Computer Requirements: Most computers and Internet providers are adequate. You will need to have regular access to the Internet during the entire 3 weeks of this class. 

Online Commitment: 

This class requires at least as much time as a traditional class and greater self discipline. Plan for up to18 hours of work, including 2-3 hours online, each week. You will need to do the following:

·         read textbook chapters and complete hands-on exercises

·         participate in online discussions using a discussion board

·         complete weekly online quizzes

·         submit PowerPoint presentations as email attachments.

New assignments will be posted every Saturday. Assignments, quizzes, and discussion board topics are typically available for only one week.  The class Blackboard site will be available at any hour of the day or night. There are no requirements to participate at any particular time of day.

Getting Started: 

 

On or shortly after the first day of class, go to the Blackboard login site at http://bb.redwoods.edu/ Username and password instructions are available on this site. After you log in you will find a link to the class, where you will receive detailed instructions on how to proceed. You must participate fully by the end of the first week (Sunday) or you may be dropped from the class.
