Course Description: |
BUS
10 fulfills General Education requirements and is transferable to four-year
colleges. Upon completion of BUS 10,
you should be able to: ·
Recognize and understand common business vocabulary ·
Identify academic and career opportunities in the field of business. ·
Compare and contrast basic business structures and organizations. ·
Understand the fundamental relationship between government and business ·
Understand the basic principles of business activities ·
Identify and implement the 4 Ps of marketing: Product, Price,
Promotion and Place ·
Evaluate securities (stocks, bonds, money market funds) and investment
strategies ·
Identify business trends and strategies in the global economy --And much more! |

On-Campus Requirement: |
There are no requirements to attend
on-campus meetings. All exams will be online. |

Computer Set-Up and Skills |
Your Computer Skills: Online courses require adequate computer skills. You should be able to navigate websites, open and download files, use a word processor and be able to convert files into Rich text format. You must also be able to send documents to me as e-mail attachments or submit files to Blackboard. It is the student’s responsibility to meet the technological demands of the course. Computer Requirements: Most computers and Internet providers are adequate. You will need to have regular access to the Internet at least twice a week for the semester. |

Online Commitment: |
This class requires at least as much time as a traditional class and greater self discipline. Plan for up to10 hours of work, including 2-3 hours online, each week. You will need to do the following: · read textbook chapters and/or view online videos · participate in online discussions using a discussion board · complete weekly quizzes · write and submit three short papers · take two online exams. · complete a final project and report New assignments are posted every Tuesday. Assignments, quizzes, and discussion board topics are typically available for only one week. The class Blackboard site will be available at any hour of the day or night. There are no requirements to participate at any particular time of day. |

Waitlist Policy: |
If the class is closed, you should check it on WebAdvisor periodically before the beginning of the semester. It will open and close during the winter break depending on the number of students who drop the class before it begins. |

On or shortly after the first day of class, go to the Blackboard login site at http://bb.redwoods.edu/ Username and password instructions are available on this site. After you log in you will find a link to the class, where you will receive detailed instructions on how to proceed. You must participate fully by the end of the first week (Sunday) or you may be dropped from the class. |
