Auditory Intelligence

Auditory learner listening to headphones. Auditory Learners are good at writing responses to lectures they've heard. They're also good at oral exams, effectively by listening to information delivered orally, in lectures, speeches, and oral sessions.


  1. Often talks or enjoys talking
  2. Often has poor handwriting
  3. Remembers spoken words and ideas easily

Complementary teaching techniques:

  1. Have the student talk through the steps
  2. Have the students think out loud through questioning strategies
  3. Encourage the use of audio equipment (recording lectures for replay later, listening to a tape of a text while reading, etc.)
  4. Work with the student in a quiet area
