PROGRAM
COMMITTEES
The
Associate Degree Nursing Program faculty and student representatives meet
monthly in committee.
1. Purpose
- Planning,
and coordination for the development, implementation, and evaluation of the
program curriculum.
- Review and revision of program
philosophy, objectives and course content to be consistent with the growing,
changing body of knowledge in the nursing profession.
- Introduction
and review of clinical experiences to achieve course and program objectives.
- Review,
revision and development of program policies, guidelines, program applications,
etc.
2. Membership
Program
Committees are composed of the nursing faculty and student representatives from
each class. Student representatives are
elected by each class at the beginning of the academic year to serve on the
program committee. At least one
representative from each class is expected to attend every scheduled committee
meeting. The LVN and ASN Program
Committees may be held at the same time.
If the representative cannot, for whatever reasons,
fulfill these duties they may resign, and a new representative will be elected.
In the second
year of the RN program an LVN to RN and Distance Learning representative is
possible by student election.
3. Responsibilities
Students
elected to serve on the program committee receive meeting schedules and
agendas. Each student representative is
responsible for bringing student concerns to the committee and reporting on
committee work to their peers.
Input from students on
issues is encouraged and solicited to help the program grow and develop to meet
the changing needs of students, the nursing profession and the health care
delivery system.
