GENERAL POLICIES ADN and LVN
Programs
Advising Students with Performance Deficiencies
When students find they are
struggling to maintain the required 75% examination average, they should approach
the instructor to discuss possible options of support and strategies for
success. Faculty will direct the student
to appropriate counselors and advisors. Early connection between students and counselors initiates remedial
action for issues such as low to failing quiz grades, difficulty in taking
manual/clinical skills tests, expressions of defeat, or hostility toward
instructors or other students. Also see
Unsafe, Unethical, and Unprofessional conduct and Performance Policy.
All critical thinking and
knowledge of nursing science is tested when the student graduate sits for the
RN NCLEX or PN NCLEX exam. Self-awareness is a key factor in succeeding in the nursing field. Each semester builds on the mastery and of
the previous semester expanding increasingly complex curricular content.
Career counseling is
encouraged at any time a student is experiencing lack of satisfaction with the
career or lack of academic success.
