Course Retention

Operational definitions used for retention and success calculations are established by the Research and Planning Group for California Community Colleges.

Course Retention Definition:  A student is retained in the course to end of term, ie. does not drop before census or is not auditing the course.

Retention Rate:  Percent of students retained in courses out of total enrolled in courses.  The retention rate is calculated by dividing the numerator by the denominator and multiplying by 100.
