Associate in Arts (AA) Degree
Associate in Science (AS) Degree

College of the Redwoods provides many paths to an Associate Degree. It is a 2 year degree with a average requirement of 60 semester units consisting of college work in General Education courses and specific course work within the selected major. Associate in Arts degrees are awarded within a General Studies area while Associate in Science Degrees are awarded for specific majors.

Certificate of Achievement Programs (CA)

The majority of Certificates of Achievement are part of the Associate in Science degree. Certificates may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of a prescribed number of units (usually 24 to 44) in each occupation area with a minimum grade point average of 2.0. A student who chooses to complete only the major and any additional requirements qualifies for a Certificate of Achievement, if one is offered in their field.

Certificate of Completion Programs (CC)

Certificates of Completion may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of one or more courses in a particular skill area from a minimum of 5 units to a maximum of 18 units, usually completed in one semester or one year.

Transfer Information

For students wishing to pursue a bachelor's (four-year) degree, College of the Redwoods offers the first two years of most four-year degree programs. CR negotiates agreements with a number of four-year colleges and universities whereby these institutions guarantee that they will accept certain CR courses as fulfilling specific lower division requirements in various major fields. Requirements of various colleges and universities will vary, and students should secure a copy of the appropriate catalog and work closely with their advisors in planning their programs.
