Computer Skills for Classroom, Home Office, or Workplace
Course Description: This hands-on course (EDUC 4) provides an introduction to a range of computer skills that can enhance your performance and productivity, whether you are a teacher, part of an office staff, or conduct your business at home. The class is designed for student-centered instruction, to help you manage organizational challenges and communicate well. This course meets specific technology competencies mandated by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
Topics to be covered include:
- Similarities and differences between the old and new Office suites (Word, PowerPoint…)
- Computer components, operation and care, and understanding operating systems
- Web browsing and other electronic communications (setting up list-serves, hidden lists)
- Word processing, including layout for newsletters, flyers and instruction
- Presentation and website development
- Spreadsheets and database management (Excel)
- Legal and ethical issues regarding online communication
- Digital imaging including scanning, digital cameras and other devices
Course Dates: June 16th - August 6th
Tuesdays & Thursday from 6-9:10 p.m. in Room 307
Course Fee: Only $60*/student
Summer registration begins on May 11th
About the Instructor:
Marie Judson-Rosier holds a Master’s degree in Educational Technologies from San Francisco State. She has taught Technology Skills for Educators for UC Berkeley’s Urban Credential program. As trainer for a technology challenge project in Berkeley schools, she trained numerous teachers in basic computer skills.
