Head Coach, Defensive Coordinator, Defensive Backs/First Season

Coach Breitzman is entering his first season at College of the Redwoods, serving as head coach, defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach. Coach Breitzman, who played baseball and football at Calaveras High School in San Andreas, graduated in 2006. He was a two-time All-Mother Load League selection in football and was named Offensive Player of the Year his senior season at quarterback. He was also an All-League selection in baseball his senior year, before transferring to San Joaquin Delta College to play football in 2006. He played quarterback his freshman year and cornerback his sophomore year, earning a First-Team All-Valley Conference selection his sophomore year and a trip to a bowl game. Breitzman was then recruited to Humboldt State’s bitter rival, Central Washington, where he played two seasons in 2008-09. In 2009, as a safety, Breitzman helped the Wildcats become the No. 1 defense in the country with just 11.2 points per game allowed. Central Washington finished the 2009 season as the No. 4 ranked team in the country. Following his playing career, Coach Breitzman stayed on at Central Washington as a safeties coach in 2010, and in 2011 as a Graduate Assistant. Last year, Coach Breitzman also got some European experience, leading the Prague Black Panthers to a Czech Republic National Championship in the Austrian Football League as a head coach and defensive coordinator.


JORDAN HAMILL:  Defensive Line Coach/Second Season

Coach Hamill, who is entering his first season with the Corsairs as defensive line coach, graduated from El Camino High School in Oceanside in 2008, where he played football and baseball. Hamill was named Male Scholar Athlete of the Year in 2007-08 for his school. The following year, Hamill played offensive line at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa. Hamill then transferred to CR in 2009, playing offensive line for the Corsairs and helping them to their last BVC championship. Hamill just graduated from Western New Mexico University, earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration.


DANNY DONADIO: Wide Receivers, Special Teams coach/First Season

Coach Donadio is entering his first season at College of the Redwoods and will be handling wide receivers and kickers. Coach Donadio graduated from Agoura High School in Agoura Hills in 2005, where he played football, soccer and track and field. Donadio was a second-team All-Marimonte League selection his senior year as a wide receiver and outside linebacker. Coach Donadio took some time away from football before joining the Corsairs in 2009, helping Redwoods to a Bay Valley Conference title as a wide receiver and punt returner. Donadio was a two-time All-BVC selection at CR, and his sophomore year, made the All-State Honorable Mentions list as a kick and punt returner.  He was also selected team captain that year was voted Most Valuable Receiver. Following his time at CR, Coach Donadio transferred to Humboldt State, where he played two years for the Jacks, helping them to a GNAC title as a wide receiver and punt returner in 2011.


ESTEBAN AVILA: Linebackers Coach/First Season

Coach Avila is entering his first season at College of the Redwoods and will be the linebackers coach. Coach Avila graduated from El Camino High School in Oceanside in 2008, where he played football and competed in the shot put and discus in track and field. His senior year, Avila was an All-Avocado League selection as a defensive lineman and helped his team to a league title. Coach Avila then spent two seasons at Shasta College in 2008-09 as a linebacker, helping the Knights to a bowl game, and in 2011, returned home to El Camino High School where he spent the past two seasons as a defensive line coach.


ELIJAH RUHL: Offensive Line Coach/First Season

Coach Ruhl is entering his first season at College of the Redwoods and will be handling the offensive line. Coach Ruhl graduated from Tahoma High School in Washington in 2008, where he played football and wrestled. Ruhl was a two-time All-South Puget Sound League selection at nose guard. He also went to the Washington State Championships in wrestling his junior year in the heavyweight division at 275 pounds. That same year his football team went 10-1 for a league championship, falling in the second round of the state playoffs for its only loss of the season. After high school, Ruhl went on to play football at College of the Sequoias, where he spent two seasons as an offensive lineman.  His sophomore year, Ruhl was selected All-Valley Conference and was later offered a full scholarship to Idaho State, which he accepted in 2010. After suffering a season-ending knee injury a few games in to the 2010 season, Ruhl returned to Idaho State the following hear, starting at guard, and, after graduating with a BS in Sports Management, transferred to Humboldt State last year, where he started as an offensive lineman.
