The North/Far North Regional Environmental Business Resource and Assistance Center, the Humboldt County American Red Cross and College of the Redwoods are co-presenting a Business Emergency Preparedness workshop.
The workshop will be presented at the Prosperity! Center, 520 E St. in Eureka on Sept. 14 from 8 to 11 a.m. The workshop is free. Call 441-9317 for reservations as space is limited.
The workshop will address those emergency preparedness steps all business must have in place as required by CalOSHA to protect their employees. Other topics will include business continuity planning focusing on three categories of protection to help a business survive a disaster. These three categories are human resources, physical resources, and business operation.
According to the Institute for Business and Home Safety about 25 percent of businesses struck by disaster never reopen their doors. In the aftermath of Katrina they estimate the rate of failure to reopen at 40 percent on the Gulf Coast.
“The North/Far North REBRAC is committed to doing whatever it can to help North Coast businesses be prepared for and survive a natural disaster,” said REBRAC Director Bill Connors.
