The Lady Corsairs nearly gave Erin McCann a win for her 20th birthday present on Friday at home against Feather River.

Instead, they gave the Golden Eagles a better present: A truckload of errors and a pair of wins.

After dropping the first game 4-1, Redwoods committed an error with two outs and the bases loaded in the second inning of the nightcap. Feather scored five runs in the inning — four of which were unearned — en route to defeating the Corsairs 10-9, which brought CR’s losing streak to 13 games.

Redwoods fell to 0-10 in the Golden Valley Conference and 6-26 overall while Feather improved to 4-4 and 10-19.

McCann performed like it was her special day, going 3-for-4 in the second game.

Redwoods came within a half-step of tying the second game. With a runner on third in the bottom of the seventh inning, Shannah McCracken hit a grounder that was bobbled by the second baseman, who narrowly threw her out at first, saving the tying run from crossing the plate.

The Corsairs close out the season with four consecutive road trips, the first of which will be next weekend at Lassen.
