The Lady Corsairs saved their best for last and swept Feather River on the road Tuesday in their final two games of the season.

Redwoods, which didn’t get a win in the Golden Valley Conference until last week, has won four of its last six games.

Jenna Pinto had one of three CR doubles in a seven-run fifth inning in the opener. Haily Miranda singled to plate Pinto and was brought in along with Rachel Damme when Sam Griffith doubled.

Erin McCann went 2-for-4 with two RBIs and Griffith went 3-for-4 with an RBI in the closer. Shannah McCracken earned her ninth win of the season and had two hits on the day.

“Even (in two losses last week) against Butte, it wasn’t a circus. We still competed. They just scored more than we did,” CR head coach Maggie White said. “As long as when you’re having a bad year, you’re still competing, then I’m OK with that. With our tough season, we finished as well as we could have expected.”

White is hoping to return at least five of her six freshmen, one of whom will be pitcher Cari Killingworth. Killingsworth was slated to be a pitcher prior to the season, but she sustained an injury to her drag toe that ended up limiting her to left field for much of the season.

Also expected to return are third baseman Nichole Doan, shortstop Karmen McCovey, center fielder Jenna Pinto and outfielder Kaylin Simonsen.
