Salmon selected All-Golden Valley Conference Baseball

College of the Redwoods freshman outfielder and pitcher Matt Salmon was awarded All-Golden Valley Conference (GVC) honors for his performance this season. A 2007 graduate of St. Bernard’s High School, Salmon was selected All-GVC Second Team as an outfielder.

Salmon hit for a .422 batting average this season and had a .929 fielding percentage while mainly playing center field. On the mound, he lead the Corsairs in wins, pitching appearances, innings and earned run average.

Baseball And Events
Local Players Commit to CR Baseball
A number of local athletes have made commitments to play in the CR baseball program next year, including the Humboldt-Del Norte League Big 5 Most Valuable Player. Interim head coach Todd Zeigler announced that Ryan Stearns of Eureka High School will be attending College of the Redwoods next year with the intent of playing baseball. Stearns, a right handed pitcher and third baseman, is also a key player this summer on the Eureka Falcons American Legion team.
