Emily Clark was honored for an outstanding season on the soccer field for the Lady Corsairs recently, with a pair of awards.

First up, Clark, a freshman midfielder out of Mariposa County, was named to the All-NorCal Second Team.

And secondly, she was awarded the Golden Boot by CR coach Lyle Wilks after leading the team with 11 goals in 2007.

“She’s just a good all-around player,” Wilks said. “She can go forward, she can win the ball in midfield and she creates things up front.”
Clark, who also contributed eight assists this past season, is expected back with the team next fall.

Also honored recently at the team’s annual banquet was sophomore captain Amy Moody, who was voted most inspirational player.

Moody, who played much of the season in goal but also played some midfield, was one of the Corsairs’ most consistent players.

The South Fork graduate was also a team captain as a freshman.

Freshman Jessica Caitlin, out of Mount Shasta, was named the team’s most improved player, an award voted on by her teammates.

The Lady Corsairs also organized a food drive for the Holidays at the banquet, held at the Ivanhoe Hotel and Dinner House Thursday night.
