CR Baseball Splits with Siskiyous

EUREKA -- If Redwoods could have only carried their offense into game two.

Then they wouldn't have split their Golden Valley Conference doubleheader with Siskiyous on Thursday.

Carried by eight hits, the Corsairs baseball squad topped the Eagles 5-2. CR cranked out eight hits again in the nightcap, but were only able to put up runs in the latter portion of the game and lost 7-4.

The split gives Redwoods a 6-23 GVC mark and a 7-32 overall record. Siskiyous is now 9-20 and 12-27.

In game one, Kirk Thurston got things going with a single and a stolen base. He was quickly brought home by Spencer Brandon's blast down the left field line for a double.

The error bug clamped down on the Siskiyous defense and the Corsairs capitalized to build their lead.

CR pitcher Zach O'Hanen picked up the complete-game victory. He gave up five hits, two runs and struck out six while walking two.

The night cap was a different story.

The Eagles were the team focused on coming out with a W putting up four runs after six innings.

Redwoods? Zero.

The Corsairs didn't score a run until the seventh inning and they added three more in the seventh.

But it was too late.

The Eagles added three runs of their own in the top of the seventh and walked away victors.

CR used a total of four pitchers in game two and Matt Burwell picked up the loss.
