CR students present 'Clayborative Flux' at annual conference in Davis

College of the Redwoods presents "Clayborative Flux," a diverse ceramics exhibition that will be displayed for hundreds of enthusiasts at the California Conference for the Advancement of Ceramic Art (CCACA). The annual conference, held in downtown Davis, CA is a distinguished event that gathers national and international ceramic artists together in one exciting experience. This is a fantastic exhibition opportunity for CR art students including Jessica Adams, Carrie Van Valkenburgh, Derek Russell, Heather McFadin, Sue Kimpel, James Strong, Jackie Kohoutek-Gonzales, Hance Bolanos Escobar, Josh Roller, Kat Payne, and Meredith Smith.

The exhibition will be on display April 26 to 29 at 315 G St. in Davis, CA. A reception for the artists will be held April 29 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

This is the fourth year that CR has been invited to exhibit at CCACA. This year's conference will feature exhibitions from emerging student artists representing over 40 colleges and universities in California and Oregon. In addition, there will be shows highlighting recognized ceramicists from around the world.

Demonstrations and lectures by highly acclaimed ceramic sculptors will take place throughout the weekend-- a destination for anyone interested in ceramic arts.

"Clayborative Flux" is comprised of functional and utilitarian concepts in addition to sculptures that feature natural forms, theoretical concepts, and site specific installations. In addition to embracing purist ceramic methods, some artists in this group incorporate mixed media components for added interest.

This exhibition is a culmination of the CR Portfolio Development and Exhibition Preparation course. Participants have shared studio space and creative energy for the past three months, each creating a dynamic portfolio. Contributing student artists have shown at the CR Creative Arts Gallery and in Eureka, Arcata, Mendocino, and Sierra Nevada College in Incline Village.
