Originally slated to play in the Premier West Bank Bowl game, the College of the Redwoods football team will now play in a different contest.

Due to a three-way tie between Sierra College, Reedley and Fresno, a re-shuffling of the Bowl Game schedule ensued on Sunday and now, the Corsairs will face host De Anza College in the Southern Division Bowl on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Cupertino.

CR's opponent, however, remains the same.

The Corsairs -- who won the BVC title and got the Bowl Game berth with their victory over Shasta College on Saturday -- were to face the winner of Saturday's De Anza and San Jose City matchup regardless.

”We were going to be at Sierra,” said CR head coach Dave Banducci. “Many thought they were not going to get in. But Sierra did.

”Usually, you have to have a 6-4 record or be a Conference Champion to get a Bowl Game. Sierra finished with a 5-5 record and was in a three-way tie for first.”

According to Banducci, that resulted in numerous swaps of teams in originally scheduled Bowl Games.

Sierra, will now host Butte College in the Premier West Bank Bowl. Reedley will play host College of San Mateo in the Bulldog Bowl game on Saturday. Fresno will take on Mendocino in the State Center CC Bowl on the same day.
