Many sports fans are gearing towards the summer season which more than likely focuses on baseball.
But hold on to your gloves. Basketball will be in full effect.
The Humboldt County Legends League is set to kick of their inaugural season today at College of the Redwoods.
Two games are scheduled.
Team Legends will take on Team Locals at 6:30 p.m. and Team Humboldt meets Team County at 8 p.m.
Both games will be played in the CR gym and admission will be $6 for adults, $3 for kids and seniors and free for children under 10.
Rich Mendoza, current College of the Redwoods head men's basketball coach and former HSU assistant, has wrangled some of the best players in Jacks history, not to mention local stars in the making, to play in a summer hoops league at CR. It's a four-team, six-game league that begins on Wednesday and is capped with a Final Four at the end of the month.
All-Americans signed up for the league are: Kevin Johnson (who played professionally in Austria and Poland), Devin Peal (Luxembourg) and Fred Hooks (Mexico, Iceland, Venezuela).
Also playing are: Jeremiah Ward (Alaska), Grayson Moyer (Alaska), Cy Vandermeer, Aaron Hungerford, Tim Pratt, Carlos Corral, Rodney Dickinson, Charlie Lamb and current HSU and CR players.
