CR presents 21st annual Mid-Winter Fine Furniture Exhibition
Run your fingers along the spalted maple wall cabinet or pull an intricate drawer of a European pearwood jewelry box and you will begin to understand the many ways wood is worked. The College of the Redwoods Fine Woodworking program invites you to come and experience these wide varieties of woodcraft at their 21st annual Midwinter Fine Furniture exhibition January 30 to February 7 at Town Hall in historic downtown Fort Bragg. This exhibition features works of 23 students of the prestigious furniture program founded by the late James Krenov.
These craftsmen hail from all over the US and Canada and represent all age groups and backgrounds. They have worked long hours and in some cases months on each piece and although their styles vary, all have striven toward excellence, which is perhaps the best definition of the word quality.
The College of the Redwoods Fine Woodworking program was founded in 1981 and offers courses in cabinetry and furniture making. All of the courses are designed for the aspiring cabinetmaker who hopes to combine sensitivity with personal expression, patiently striving toward a goal best described as fine craftsmanship. Their efforts toward this goal have been recognized by the woodworking community around the world.

Most works in the exhibit will be available for purchase, and artists are available to discuss commissions at the reception, held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 5. This reception will also provide interested parties a chance to interact with the makers of the pieces on display. Exquisite wine and hors d'oeuvres will be served.
