Maybe it was the bad weather or they simply ran into a better team.
Whatever the reason, the College of the Redwoods men's soccer team fell to Golden Valley Conference foe Butte College 4-1 on Tuesday.
The loss droped CR's GVC record to 2-1-1 while Butte imroved to 1-1-1.
”It wasn't the best conditions ever,” Corsairs head coach Alan Exley said. “The field was flooded and that made life difficult.”
CR did score the first goal of the game. Edguardo Garcia found the back of the net off an assist from Michael Price.
But Butte tied the game at the 30-minute mark, and, before the first half came to a close, the Roadrunners scored again.
”In the second (half), they picked up later goals as we tried to push forward,” Exley said.
Up next for the Corsairs is a date with one of Northern California's top JUCO soccer squads, Santa Rosa Junior College.
The two teams will meet on Friday at 4 p.m. in Santa Rosa.
