A highly competitive outing in the first two games provided a spark, but in the end, the College of the Redwoods women's volleyball team couldn't pull off an upset over Siskiyous Wednesday night.
Led by Melissa Throssel (eight kills), Ines Castro-Moore (six kills) and Alice Fluher (19 assists), the Corsairs dropped Siskiyous 25-22 in the first game.
”Siskiyous has won about 22 games this year, and taking a game from them shows how far we have come,” CR head coach Marla Gleave said.
But Siskiyous came roaring back to win the match 4-1.
”We lost consistency and focus,” Gleave noted.
Redwoods ended up dropping the rest of the games 19-25, 7-25 and 15-25.
Up next for the Corsairs is a trip up to Susanville to take on Lassen on Friday at 5 p.m. CR ends the 2008 campaign the following day with a 2 p.m. matchup with Butte.
