College of the Redwoods freshman Alexandria Pomilia had her breakout performance of the 2013 volleyball season at Marin on Tuesday, picking up 12 kills to go with nine digs and three service aces, helping the Corsairs beat Marin in four, 25-17, 19-25, 28-26 and 25-22.
Pomilia made just three hitting errors in the match.
“It was a fantastic all-around match for her,” said CR head coach Marla Gleave. “And it was also a great match for our team, learning how to come from behind and win.”
Redwoods trailed late in both the third and fourth sets, but rallied both times to secure the win.
“We just found a way to get it done,” Gleave said.
Tuesday’s match was the first of Redwoods’ season to go more than three games.
CR’s Anna Westin had a team-high 16 kills, many of them off of tips, while Kristyn Rook led the team in digs with 18, followed by Bethany Rapp, who had 15.
With the win, the Corsairs improve to 4-2 on the year, and will play next at Southwest Oregon Community College next Tuesday at 3 p.m.
