College of the Redwoods’ Golden Valley Conference struggles continued in a home volleyball match against Lassen on Friday as the Corsairs were swept in three, losing 25-19, 25-15 and 25-19.
Since starting the year 4-2, the Corsairs have dropped their past six consecutive matches, five of them in conference to drop to 4-8 overall and 0-5 in the GVC.
“It’s disappointing,” said CR head coach Marla Gleave. “We’re just not playing with the energy or team unity that we need to have. It takes all six players on the court working together, on the same page, and it’s all about forgetting the last play and making the next one. We’re just not competing.”
CR’s Anna Westin had a team-high six kills to go along with two blocks, while Kristyn Rook and Kelsey Jones had five kills apiece.
CR setter Morgan Psalmonds had 12 digs to lead the team, but it was Corsair mistakes and an aggressive Lassen offense that made the difference.
“We probably gave them five service aces today just by standing around watching,” Gleave said. “We’re not chasing the ball.”
The Corsairs play next at home against Siskiyous on Friday at 4 p.m.
