College of the Redwoods hung around, but, in the end, was no match for the Southwestern Oregon volleyball team, falling in straight sets, 25-14, 25-17 and 25-18 on Tuesday in Coos Bay, Ore and snapping its two-match win streak.
CR’s Alexandria Pomilia led the Corsairs in hitting for a second straight match, picking up four kills to go along with 12 digs.
According to CR head coach Marla Gleave, it was the Lakers’ offensive talent that made the difference.
“They had some great hitters,” Gleave said. “We adjusted to their fast-pace tempo okay, but their hitters were the best we have seen and at times just picked us apart.”
With the loss, the Corsairs drop to 4-3 on the year.
CR will play next in its Golden Valley Conference opener at home against Feather River (11-8) on Friday at 6 p.m.
