Lili Jarnaghan hit six 3-pointers and scored a game-high 20 points to lead the College of the Redwoods women’s basketball team to its fifth straight Golden Valley Conference win, beating Feather River 87-51 on Saturday in Quincy.
The win puts CR at 7-1 in the GVC, a game behind first-place Siskiyous (8-0), which comes to town on Saturday at 2 p.m.
“We’re really anxious and looking forward to it,” said CR head coach Doug Oliveira, whose Corsairs are still chasing the school’s first GVC title since 1981.
On Saturday, Jarnaghan hit three 3s in each half, accounting for nearly half of the Corsairs 13 3s in the game.
“Lili’s ability to shoot the ball tonight really broke their backs,” Oliveira said.
CR’s Sheila Christy finished with 17 points, while Lili Herrera scored 14 and Darnesha Ward hit three 3-pointers and finished with nine.
“It was a total team effort,” Oliveira said. “We came out in the second half and played really well defensively, which set the tone.”
The Corsairs have just two games remaining on the season, a home contest against Siskiyous on Saturday and then a road game at Shasta the following week.
CR’s game against Siskiyous will be broadcast live on Access Humboldt, Ch. 8, as well as online at redwoods.edu
