Shasta's 6-foot sophomore center Molly Morton scored 17 points and guard Megan Remley added 18 as the Knights defeated College of the Redwoods 70-45 Saturday for the Corsairs' second straight loss to open play in the Golden Valley Conference.
Fortuna grad Shylo Wantt scored 14 points and was the only Corsair in double digits. South Fork's Cara Olson added eight points while playing a Knight team that did not feature a Humboldt County athlete for the first time in several years.
Redwoods went 13-for-22 from the line and Shasta was 19-28.
The Corsairs (0-2 in the GVC, 1-14 overall) will play at Lassen on Friday, then at Feather River on Saturday. Shasta improved to 1-0, 13-5.
