High School Equivalency (GED/HiSET)
Adult Education offers free classes to prepare students to take a high school equivalency test and earn a California High School Equivalency Certificate. Two test options are available for students at College of the Redwoods: the GED and HiSET. Both tests are authorized by the California Department of Education. Students can also earn a College of the Redwoods noncredit certificate while they study to take the GED or HiSET. Adult Education classes are free; however, a fee is charged to take the GED and HiSET tests.
High School Equivalency Preparation
A noncredit Certificate of Competency for students who want to build skills in the core academic subjects to prepare for a high school equivalency test. This sequence of two courses will provide students with a review of the content at the elementary and secondary level. Content is individualized and based on need. Complete two classes for 75-165 hours of high school equivalency preparation training.

Prior to registering to take the GED test, students must create a profile at www.GED.com. Students may schedule and pay for their test online while creating their profile, or call 707 476-4500. More information about registration and test requirements can be found here.
Register to take the HiSET Test
New HiSET test sites are currently being established. More information will be available soon.
To earn a California High School Equivalency Certificate, students must successfully pass all subtests of the GED or HiSET tests in the same language, and the tests cannot be mixed and matched.
