EOPS/CARE EXTENDED OPPORTUNITY PROGRAM AND SERVICES (EOPS) & COOPERATIVE AGENCIES RESOURCES EDUCATION (CARE)

The EOPS and CARE programs are state funded services intended to assist eligible students in the achievement of their educational goals.

EOPS services include the following:

  • EOPS Financial Assistance. Students who qualify may receive assistance with the purchase of books. EOPS students may also qualify for an Achievement Grant and fee waivers for transcripts, assessment, and some university application fees.
  • Orientation. A special EOPS orientation is provided once a semester to acquaint students with EOPS services and eligibility, as well as an opportunity to meet faculty and staff.
  • Priority Registration. This service allows EOPS students to register early for classes.

To receive EOPS services, students must complete a Special Programs Application available at the EOPS/CARE/ CalWORKs Office or at the Counseling and Advising Center. Students will also be required to file a FAFSA (federal form) and BOG (Board of Governors) fee waiver. These financial aid forms are available at the Financial Aid Office and the Student Assistance Center.

CARE services provides assistance to single parents attending college full-time and who are receiving CalWORKs Cash Aid for themselves or their children. In addition to the EOPS services listed above, CARE students may also receive financial assistance for child care and other educational expenses.

Eligibility is determined based on the information submitted on the Special Programs application, the BOG fee waiver and federal financial aid form. For more information, please stop by the EOPS/CARE/CalWORKs Office, located in the Administration Building.
