hardware options will be explored. Prerequisite: DM-20/20L; or
DM-70A through DM-75A Corequisite: DM-23
DM-24A Animation Principles
(3 units lecture) Grade Only CSU A study in the principles of
animation as defined by Disney animators and recognized
as the essence of animation magic and the illusion of life
as applied to 2D and 3D animation. Course includes the
history of animation from early black-and-white cartoons to
modern 2D and 3D productions. Students learn how scripts,
storyboards, and short animation sequences are developed
using traditional and computer techniques.
DM-24B Cartoon Animation
(4 units lecture/lab) Grade Only CSU An introductory-to
intermediate-level course in cartoon animation. Students
conceptualize and develop 2-D characters to be used in frame-
based animation software. Students learn industry-standard
animation techniques for creating characters that walk, talk,
and show expressions. Prerequisite: DM-24A Recommended:
ART-17, DM-10, DM-20, DM-75A
DM-30 Interactive Media
(6 units lecture/lab) Grade Only CSU A capstone course
using professional-level software to develop products for
entertainment and/or educational use. Students work alone
and in teams to develop electronic products to meet defined
objectives and delivery requirements. Students use project-
management tools and media-development techniques
learned in previous classes to follow a production process to
completion and delivery. Prerequisite: DM-15 and DM-20
