POLSC-1 Contemporary Problems
(3 units lecture) CR/NC option CSU and UC This course is an analysis of current American political problems with emphasis on constitutional principles and governmental institutions.

POLSC-3 Modern World Problems
(3 units lecture) CR/NC option CSU and UC An introductory analysis of the workings of the international political system with emphasis on the sources and ramifications of contemporary international problems.

POLSC-10 American Institutions
(3 units lecture) Grade Only CSU and UC This course addresses both philosophic roots and the contemporary operation of American national, state, and local governments. Specific topics include constitutional development, federal-state relations, and the rights and obligations of citizens under both the federal and the California constitutions. (CAN GOVT2)

POLSC-12 State and Local Politics
(3 units lecture) Grade Only CSU An introduction to state and local politics and government with emphasis on California. Specific topics include governors, state legislatures, state courts, local governments, current issues in state and local politics, California political history, and the California Constitution.

POLSC-20 Comparative Politics/Government
(3 units lecture) Grade Only CSU and UC Systematic analysis and evaluation of differing political systems in Europe and Asia, with an emphasis on governmental structures and political functions.

POLSC-30 The Campaign Trail
(2 units lecture) CR/NC option CSU A theoretical and practical examination of national, state, and local campaign tactics. Students are expected to participate in campaigns.
