Remedial Course Work Limitation

A student’s need for remedial coursework shall be determined using appropriate assessment instruments, methods, or procedures administered pursuant to subchapter 6 (commencing with section 55500) of chapter 6. However, except as provided in subdivision (C) of this section, no student shall receive more than 30 semester units (or 45 quarter units) of credit for remedial coursework. Students having exhausted the unit limitation shall be referred to appropriate adult noncredit education services provided by a college, adult school, communitybased organization, or other appropriate local provider with which the district has an established referral agreement. (C) The following students are exempted from the limitation on remedial coursework described in subdivision (b) of this section: (1) Students enrolled in one or more courses of English as a Second Language (ESL); (2) Students identified by the district as having a learning disability as defined in section 56036. Changes in Requirements
College of the Redwoods reserves the right to change the regulations whenever it is deemed necessary, taking precautions that such changes do not cause hardship or injustice to students already enrolled at the College.
