Humboldt Bay Nat'l Wildlife Refuge
Spring '02, Spring '03

Landscaping the Humboldt Bay National Wildlife Refuge was a project AGS members participated in during the Spring semester of 2002.  The project was initiated by the US Fish and Wildlife Service to honor the wildlife refuge manager, Richard Guadagno, who was killed in the September 11th terrorist attacks.

The project involved landscaping the area in front of the wildlife refuge building.  With the help of volunteers from different agencies and organizations, fresh dirt was distributed on the grounds, trees and shrubs were planted, gravel rock and shredded bark were spread out, and a drip system was installed. On Friday, May 3, 2002 a ceremony was held on site to honor Rich and commemorate the building as the Richard Guadagno headquarters and visitor center.
