GAMMA RHO CHAPTER (AGS)

Officers' Meeting Minutes 07/18/02

 

Time:  18:00 - 20:15 

Place:  Stanton's restaurant, Eureka 

In Attendance:  Mj Goble - President, Melissa Hanks - 1st Vice President, Patrick Cross - 'Acting' 2nd Vice President, Charlotte Peters - Secretary, and Jim Tenney

 

President's Report:

1.      AGS State Website Update

a.      Mj checked the state website for updates.  The Gamma Rho Chapter has not been updated on the current 'Good Standing' list (Bylaws/Reports).  She will contact Ed Keith to make the corrections.

b.      Mj passed around the results of the state conference competition (name tags, newsletters, and websites), including  photos of some of the entries.  This gives Gamma Rho an idea what to prepare for at the 2003 Spring Conference.

c.   The AGS state calendar was also passed around and dates for upcoming events were discussed.

 

AGS Bylaws:

2.      Article I (Name and Purpose):

a.      *Section 2.  Some minor grammatical errors were corrected and College of the Redwoods, as named, is to include the District.

3.      Article II (Membership):

a.      Section 1.  The 3.0 GPA is to include any accredited college.

b.      Section 2.  Temporary Membership shall have all privileges after the first semester.  High School students with AP credits will qualify as well.

c.      Section 3.  There shall be only one grace period throughout one's membership.  A member may carry a minimum of 3 units, and a 3.5 GPA to qualify for a grace period.

d.      Section 4.  Paragraph c. was added to state that members must apply in writing to an advisor to be considered for Permanent Membership.  Some minor grammatical errors were corrected.

Officers' Meeting Minutes 08/01/02
 

Time:  18:30 - 20:15 

Place:  Humboldt State University, Library Conference Room, Third Floor 

In Attendance:  Mj Goble - President, Patrick Cross - 'Acting' 2nd Vice President, Charlotte Peters - Secretary, Jim Tenney, and Melissa Hanks

 

AGS Bylaws: 

1.   Article II (Membership):

a.  We reviewed Article II (Membership) to identify when a member will

    have the AGS notation on their transcript and when it will be removed.

 

2.   Article III (Service Points and Dues):

      a. A more detailed description of service points was drafted and approved

         earlier in the semester.

      b. The service point's description was passed around for officers to review.

      c.  No changes were made.

 

3.   Article IV (Privileges and Honors):

a.  Access to scholarships was added as a new section.

 

4.   Article V (Elections):

      a.  Minor changes in wording were made.

      b.  * Section 3.  Paragraph c. added that proxy voting is to be allowed.

      c.  * Section 4.  Was added stating, "An Advisor shall be present to verify

                            the official results."

 

5.   Article VI (Terms of Officers):

      a.  * Sections 1. & 2.   The term of office has been revised to one

                             academic year instead of one semester.

      b.  * Section 3.  The warning must be signed off by at least three officers

                             and one advisor and then mailed.  These would be

                             considered serious offenses.  The recall voting shall

                             include proxy votes.

            Friday, August 16, 2002 @ 18:00, H.S.U. Library (meet downstairs, inside entrance, for room assignment) We will wrap up the revisions to the Gamma Rho Bylaws at this meeting.  NOTE:  It may take more than two hours to complete, so be prepared.

Officers' Meeting Minutes
GAMMA RHO CHAPTER (AGS)
08/16/02

Time: 19:00 - 21:00
Place: Jim Tenney's apartment
In Attendance: Mj Goble - President, Patrick Cross - 'Acting' 2nd Vice President, Charlotte Peters - Secretary, Melissa Hanks, and Jim Tenney

Mj - President:
1) Mj presented the idea of a fundraiser selling Papa Murphy discount pizza cards.
a) Papa Murphy issues discount cards offering $40-$50 savings on pizza purchases.
b) Mj will propose that the Gamma Rho Chapter purchase 50 cards at $1.00 apiece. The cards can be sold to the public for $5.00 each.
c) Surplus cards can be refunded back to Papa Murphy's.
2) Mj found out that the Gamma Rho Chapter is a non-profit organization because we are a CR foundation account.
a) As a non-profit organization, the Gamma Rho Chapter may be entitled to various discounts throughout the community and state.

AGS Bylaws:
1) Article VII (Duties of Officers):
a) Duties for the President,1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary were revised.
b) Section 6 was added to introduce the Executive Board members and their duties.

2) Article VIII (Appointed Positions):
a) Article was modified to include the duties of the Executive Board and appended to Article VII as Section 6.
b) Article title was changed from Executive Officers to Appointed Positions.
c) Article sections added to introduce the Inter-Club Council Representative, Webmaster, and Newsletter Editor as appointed positions.
d) Duties of appointed positions outlined.

3) Article IX (Advisors):
a) Establishment and Amendments content moved to Article X.
b) Article title changed from Establishment and Amendments to Advisors.
c) Article sections added to outline the duties of the advisors, which was adapted from the AGS state list of advisor duties.

4) Article X (Establishment and Amendments):
a) Some sections modified for clarity.
