Hotlines/Places to Go for Help
- Sexual Assault/Abuse: This site lists resources around the world and a more specific link to information for male survivors.
- National Coalition Against Domestic Violence: This site has the phone numbers and links to the state coalitions against
sexual assault. - Office On Violence Against Women: This site has the phone numbers, addresses, and links to different organizations in different states. Some of the state coalitions are repeated and it includes other organizations.
- Community United Against Violence: This site offers a 24 hour, confidential, multilingual crisis line for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning (LGBTQQ) as well as Hate Violence Survivor and Domestic Violence Survivor projects. Emergency assistance (hotels, food, and transportation) and free counseling are also available through this site.
Types of Sexual Assault
Date or “Acquaintance” Rape
- Campus Sexual Assault Victims' Bill of Rights: This site briefly outlines the victim’s rights according to federal law and includes two laws that certain schools must obey.
- Date Rape and Date Rape Drugs: This site is a link off of one of the sites in “Basic Information” that specifically addresses Date Rape which is more common on college campuses.
- Coordinated Community Response for Sexual Assault: Campus Assault Sexual Info Sheet: This site provides some basic information and statistics.
- National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism: Alcohol and Sexual Assault: This site addresses the role that alcohol plays in sexual assault.
Stranger Rape
- Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault: This site has several tips on how to avoid stranger rape.

Stalking
- Kari & Associates: Cyberstalking & Harassment: This site provides information about what to do if you have been a victim of cyberstalking and how to fight cyberstalking. It also discusses the various forms of cyberstalking.
- U.S. Department of Justice: National Institute of Justice: Stalking in America: This research brief delves into the definitions and issues related to stalking. The research mentioned here stemmed from the National Violence Against Women Survey. Adobe Acrobat is required to read this article. (PDF: requires the Free Adobe Reader)
- The Antistalking Web Site: This site explores stalker profiles and motivations. This site also answers important questions about how to tell if your stalker will become violent and about whether or not you should obtain a restraining order.
Male Survivors
- An Abuse, Rape, and Domestic Violence Aid and Resource Collection (aardvarc): Male Victims of Sexual Violence: This site includes some statistics about male victims and survivors. There are also more links to books about male sexual assault.
- The Counseling and Mental Health Center at the University of Texas at Austin: For Male Survivors of Sexual Assault: This site provides a look at the myths of male sexual assault. More information is provided about what to do after a sexual assault and normal reactions to sexual assault. Unique issues specific to male sexual assault is discussed.
- Male Sexual Assault: This site lists some more resources such as films and books about male sexual assault.
- National Center for PTSD: Men and Sexual Trauma: This site deals with the perpetrators of male sexual violence as well as gender socialization of the male survivors.
- Men Can Stop Rape: This site answers some frequently asked questions about male sexual assault survivors. A list of more websites and books is also given.
- Sexual Abuse of Males: This is an online book.
- Male Survivor: This site offers definitions, facts, a discussion board, and a directory of therapists.
- Men's Voices Magazine: This site has information about battered men, male sexual assault survivors, and men’s conferences.
Incest/Childhood Sexual Abuse - Coordinated Community Response for Sexual Assault: Adult Survivors of Incest: This site covers the aftereffects of incest and healing. Statistics are also included.
- Survivors of Incest Anonymous: This site details SIA's 12 step recovery program for incest survivors. SIA meetings are listed. Guidelines and definitions are also mentioned within this site.
- American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry: Child Sexual Abuse: This site explores the signs that a child has been victim to sexual abuse. A few statistics and preventative measures are also mentioned.
- National Center for PTSD: Child Sexual Abuse: This site explains who the typical perpetrators of child sexual abuse are. It also tells parents and caretakers what to do if they have any suspicions. Symptoms and effects are also detailed.
- American Psychological Association: Understanding Child Sexual Abuse: This site has links to places to get help. This site also offers material about the perpetrators of child sexual assault. Questions such as "Can children recover from sexual abuse?" and "What are the effects of child sexual abuse?" are answered.
Marital Rape
- Wellesley Center for Women: The Wife Rape Information Page: This site provides answers to frequently asked questions about marital rape. Definitions and statistics are reported. Legal rights about marital rape are covered. More resources and places to contact if you have been victimizared are listed.
- National Online Resource Center on Violence Against Women: Marital Rape: This site covers topics such as intervention in marital rape and risk factors for marital rape. There is a brief legal history of marital rape. Several myths are busted. Statistics, definitions, and references are also provided.
- U.S. Department of Justice: Extent, Nature, and Consequences of Intimate Partner Violence: This is an article detailing findings from the National Violence Against Women Survey. Prevalence, risk factors, and frequency are just a few of the topics discussed. This requires Adobe Acrobat. (PDF: requires the Free Adobe Reader)
