Truck Driver Training



Truck Driving: Getting on the Road to Your Future . . .

College of the Redwoods Truck Driver Training Program teaches background information, break-in skills, and offers behind-the-wheel training preparation for most trucking jobs. This intensive six-week course has 45 hours of lecture and 45 hours of "behind-the-wheel" instruction. Each student receives 45 additional hours of observation time in the truck.

  • Pre-trip inspection and safety
  • Proper shifting techniques
  • Brake systems and adjustments
  • Paperwork
  • How to seek employment

Upon completion of the course, the instructor will schedule the student's DMV road test. If students pass the road test, they will receive their Class-A license.


Getting Started:

To begin College of the Redwoods' Truck Driver Training Program, a student must attend an informational meeting. This is an opportunity to receive an application and information packet about the program. Instructors will give a summary of what to expect from the program. Potential students will also be able to hear about financing plans and possible funding resources for students who are eligible.

March 6th, 10th or 14th 2017
Time: 6:00p.m. - 8:30p.m.


Eligibility:

Eligibility will be discussed further in the mandatory informational meeting. To attend the College of the Redwoods' Truck Driving Program, a student must be at least 18 years of age and have:
  • California Class A Learner's Permit
  • Medical Exam
  • Current DMV License Record Print-out
  • D.O.T. Drug Screen
  • Be Registered in the Program
  • Pass a Basic Skills Test (Reading, Writing and Math)

Truck Driving Training Program

Mandatory Pre-Class Meetings: March 24, 27 & 31, 2017

Program dates: April 3 - May 12, 2017

This is an intensive six-week course.

Classes are held Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

There is additional time with the truck arranged with students and the instructors in the mornings, afternoon, and/or weekends.

Fee: $4,295

Additional fees may be paid by the student to DMV and for medical screen.

Monthly Payment: $549.17 for 6 months


Truck Driving Refresher Course

Students are eligible to attend refresher if they have attended a truck driving program or have had a CDL previously. Call (707) 476-4500 for more information and scheduling.
