New Faculty Mentoring ProgramThe New Faculty Mentoring Program is a year-long series of activities and workshops designed to help all newly appointed tenure-track faculty members fulfill their potential as teachers and as active members of the college community. First year teachers are granted a 4.5 TLU reduction in teaching load to allow them time to participate in the mentoring program. Activities will encourage district-wide interaction and will familiarize participants with every campus. By providing a consistent and well-structured series of staff development opportunities, the college hopes to ease the transition of new faculty members into their new roles and to encourage their professional growth. The Director of the Center for Teaching Excellence will plan and coordinate the New Faculty Mentoring Program and will work with the Campus Vice Presidents, Division and Department Chairs and Academic Senate to successfully assimilate new faculty members into their academic disciplines and the college community. Other professional development activities provided by the CTE will likewise be available to new faculty members.
