MEDICAL TRAINING

 

 

022681       CPR Renewal                                     Location: AT 126

                                              5:30pm-9:30pm                    10/16   TH

                       Instructor: V. Plambeck      Fee: $35        Class Limit: 20

                        This course meets American Heart Association (AHA) requirements

                        for BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR Renewal training.  Course includes

                        hands-on manikin practice of adult, infant and child CPR and foreign body

                        airway obstruction skills, as well as use of an AED (automated external

                        defibrillator) and bag-mask device.  Participants who successfully complete

                        the written and skills examinations will be issued an AHA BLS for

                        Healthcare Providers certification card, valid for two years. 

                        (Note:  Registration priority will be given to those also enrolled in the

                        EMT-I Refresher class.)

                     Course participants must attend ALL class sessions

                     Instructor: V. Plambeck       Fee: $130      Class Limit: 30

                       This North Coast EMS-approved course meets state requirements for

                       EMT-I refresher training.  Course includes didactic instruction and skills

                       laboratory in basic life support knowledge and skills.  Topics include

                       personal safety, mediocolegal issues, patient assessment, airway

                       management, use of the AED (automated external defibrillator), and

                       management of medical and traumatic emergencies.  Course includes

                       North Coast EMS Skills Competency Verification.  Participants who

                       successfully complete this course will be eligible to apply for re-certification

                       as an EMT-I.  (Note:  This course does NOT include CPR re-certification.)

                       Prerequisite:  Current EMT-I certification or previous EMT-I certification

                       expired for no more than six months.  Please contact instructor if EMT

                       certification is expired for more than six months - 476-4100 ext 4838. 

 

022373   IV Therapy                                              Location: AT 126        

                                    8:00am-6:30pm        8/18, 8/19, 8/21         MTTH

                        Instructors: K. Harvey, RN    Fee: $300  Class Limit: 20

                                               A. Horn-Nitsche, RN                        

                        This class is designed to prepare the student to start and superimpose

intravenous fluids.  The content will include types of fluids and devices

rationales for therapies, safety factors, complications, monitoring and

preparation of site, patient and equipment.  It will also include supervised

practice of the technique of venipuncture on mannequins and fellow

classmates.  Students will successfully start 3 IVs on fellow classmates.

                        This class is for medical assistants giving injections under the

supervision of a physician.  Bring a calculator.

 

022756   Venipuncture                                         Location: AT 126   

                                             8:00am-6:00pm                       9/21   Su

                        Instructor: K. Harvey         Fee: $100      Class Limit: 24

                        This class is for medical assistants to draw blood under the supervision

of a physician.  This class is only for physician office employment.
