ADN Class of 2004 |
The curriculum prepares nurses to assume
responsibility for directing the nursing care of patients with acute and
chronic illness. It also provides theory and practice for the student to
develop the ability to perform preventative, therapeutic and
rehabilitative intervention techniques. In addition to treatments and
procedures (including medications and intravenous therapy), the program
emphasizes patient education, psychosocial and cultural aspects, and
bioethics.
Upon completion of the ADN curriculum, the student is awarded an Associate
in Science Degree and is eligible to take the National Council Licensing
Exam for Registered Nursing (NCLEX-RN). A new class is admitted every Fall
semester according to a prescribed selection
process.

How many students are accepted into the program?
Each year, Fall semester, a new class is
admitted; we accept approximately 36 students.
When can I apply to the
ADN-RN Program?
The Enrollment Period begins Spring semester, the last Monday of January in effect for two weeks. Immediately following the Enrollment
Period, the Selection Process will randomize qualified applicants
that have submitted a complete Application to the Associate Degree in
Science Nursing Program with all specified verification documents
attached as requested. Unverified and/or invalidated entries on the
application form will cause disqualification of the applicant, and
applications will be returned.
Qualified applications to the ADN-RN program will be selected by lottery
until all available seats are filled. If more qualified applications are
received than there are seats available, qualified applicants who apply
during the Enrollment Period who are not awarded seats will be maintained
in order of the random lottery on a waiting list. The Health Occupation
Office will notify students by letter of their acceptance into the ADN-RN
program or their waitlist number. Acceptance will be subject to completion
of all prerequisite courses in progress with a grade of ‘C’ or better
during the spring semester.
From the end of the Enrollment Period until the first day of class in the
fall, seats that become available will be filled in order from the waiting
list. Once the program has begun in the fall semester any remaining
qualified applicants who applied during the Enrollment Period will be
carried forward for the award of a seat in the next Enrollment Period.
Only if seats remain unfilled will applications be received after the
Enrollment Period for consideration of the award of seats in the ADN-RN
program. Applications received after the Enrollment Period will not be
maintained on a waiting list for the award of a seat in the next
enrollment period. Reapplication will be required for a seat in the next
year’s class for applications received after the Enrollment Period.
Therefore, it is in the best interest of the applicant to qualify for
enrollment by submitting a complete application with all specified
documentation attached during the Enrollment Period.
