Construction Technology

WoodFair started at the CR Eureka campus in the Gym in 1989. The Heart of the Matter in 1999 and WoodFair was suspended for that summer. WoodFair moved to Redwood Acres for a period of time and included a Violin and Bow Making workshop series in the CR Construction Lab. A wood turning demonstrations and post-WoodFair turning lessons has been presented by nationally recognized wood turner, Mr. Jerry Kermode for most of the past 20-years. The Gallery show and vendors have attracted the public consistently since the start. Three years ago, CR stopped hosting WoodFair and the Humboldt Woodworking Society started hosting the event at Almquist Lumber in Arcata.
CR Construction Technology faculty has volunteered every year to support the event. Often marketing program courses and student work, faculty recognizes the importance of supporting such a valuable event, and encourages students to show their work in the annual gallery juried show. Students from the CR Mendocino Coast Fine Woodworking program in fort Bragg have consistently won prizes for their fine quality cabinet and furniture work at the WoodFair Juried Show.
