Susan Abbey has been teaching theater for over twenty years, including classes in Acting, Directing, Theater Education, Theater History, Theater Appreciation, Speech, and Film Analysis. After working as a professional actress, director, and acting coach in Salt Lake City, she moved to Humboldt County in 2001. Susan is active in local theater companies as both an actress and director.
EDUCATION: B.A. (Theater and Speech Education), M.F.A. (Directing), Brigham Young University.

JamesFloss James Floss teaches Oral Interpretation and Fundamentals of Speech Communications at College of the Redwoods and Humboldt State University. For many years, James was a member of the Chamber Readers, a touring Oral Interpretation troupe, for whom he adapted stories and directed shows. As a theater artist, James often works on literature-based projects. He has brought four novels to stage, including his one-man retelling of H.G. Well's The Time Machine entitled The Traveller that he toured to five stages.

lyth

Kjeld Lyth joined College of the Redwoods as an associate faculty member in 1979 and has since taught a wide variety of Drama classes at C.R. He has also taught traditional acting techniques at Dell'Arte School of Physical Theater and has conducted many workshops throughout Humboldt County. He has appeared as an actor in productions throughout the U.S., including five seasons with the Colorado Shakespeare Festival. Locally, he has been an active member of the theater community, having directed over 50 productions in a variety of venues. He is a member of the American Federation of Radio and Television Artists.

Carol Ryder Carol Ryder is voice instructor, choir director, and musical theater director at College of the Redwoods, and is also a member of the music faculty at Humboldt State University. She has worked with San Francisco Opera Merola Program, Roundabout Theater in New York, and the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara. As Artistic Director of the Humboldt Light Opera Company (HLOC), she has directed and/or produced over 50 productions since 1990.
EDUCATION: B.A. (Music), M.A. (Musical Theater), Humboldt State University.
thomas Michael F. Thomas studied mime with Etienne Decroux in Paris and has performed mime in the Midwestern United States and in Britain, the former Yugoslavia, and Israel. He has studied voice with Jolene Hayes. He has directed productions and has acted locally at a variety of venues. He is currently Managing Artistic Director of North Coast Repertory Theater (NCRT), coordinator of the C.R. Community Theater Program, and an associate faculty member at College of the Redwoods. He also teaches at Humboldt State University.
