English 9: Introduction to Modern Literature

An introduction to the study of great literature from the Enlightenment through
the early 20th century. Students will read and discuss a variety of
representative works of poetry, fiction and drama, developing the necessary
skills to approach literary masterpieces confidently.
English 18: American Literature: Civil War-WWII
3 units
Instructor: Larry Frazier
MW: 2:00-3:25 pm
Selected readings from the major writers of the United States from post-Civil
War through World War II. Students will read critically and analytically
in these works to understand their ideas and historical and cultural
implications.
English 32: Creative Writer: Poetry
3 units
Instructor: Pat McCutcheon
F: 8:30-11:40 am in AD107
This class provides reading assignments, writing opportunities,
discussion of form and technique, and a supportive atmosphere, all designed to
support the writer. The course
includes analysis of literary models and of writing by students. Participants receive constructive feedback in a supportive workshop
setting.
