Unit Test 1: Part A (Identifying Subjects & Verbs)
Read the following points in your Bedford Handbook before you start the exercises:
A) 21A (standard verb forms)
B) 21B (cross out intervening material)
C) 21C (subjects joined by “and”)
D) 64a (prepositional phrases)
Also, make sure to try out
some of the practice problems online with the Hacker website (Dave’s email is david-holper@redwood.edu for
the login). Then go to Grammar basics
and do the exercises under Verbs and Subjects.

out the prepositional phrases. Then
underline and label (above the line) the subject (s) and the verb (v).
