A Feminist Issue
One day, while I was walking
through the park, I saw a croud of women protesting. Geing a female myself, I
decided to go over and listen to some words of wisdom. When I got within
earshot, I was slightly amused: the protesters were “standing up” for womens
rights. Never really being into the issue myself, I stood and listened for
awhile. After only a few moments, I started to get disgusted by these women.
Not only were they asking for equal rights, which is how it should be, they
were also asking for better oprotunities and chances. These women were talking
like they deserved to be treated better than men!
More
and more I’ve come to realize that a lot of women are hypocrites when asking
for equal rights. These women want jobs and positions without necisarly fitting
the qualifications. Feminists always talk about being treated equally, yet,
never have I heard a women defending herself when “women and children go
first.” Also, women sometimes don’t realize that fighting for pro-choice
birthrights for women and then fighting for equal rights between sexes is a
hypocracy
Most
laws are set for equality between sexes. When woment want “equal rights” in the
work force, what I think they really want is better oprotunities in the job
field. Woment fight hard for higher positioned jobs, and when rejected, they
feel the rejection was based on the soul fact that they are female. Most women
don’t see that men tend to be natural born leaders, and there body types allow
them to do physical things with more ease. You can see the exceptions to these
standards by the women who do have high positioned or high physical
labored jobs.
I’ve
only seen a women open the door for a man a few times, and that was when the
women and man were just friends. So many of the old curtisy rules apply in
todays society for men and women. Men open doors, allow the women to go first,
helps her when when she’s struggling with something, and protects her. When
does one see a women pull a chair out for her husband, or put the toilet seat
up? Most feminists still expect these things from men, but demand to be treated
equally. Even when men try to protect the women, the feminists still fight
back. “Draft registration . . . is the only instance in which federal law explicitly
treats men and women differently.” It’s no surprise that there are women who
fight against this law too. Men argue, though, that “draft registration . . .
is a symbol of the long standing attitude that men’s lives are more desposable
and that women must be protected from harm.”
Women
fight for pro-choice for women when it comes to pregnancy, but then go off and
fight for equality between sexes. Men have no say what so ever in deciding
weather a child is born, even if he is the father. A child is equally as much
of the father as it is the mother, yet a father can’t decide if his child gets
to live or not. At the same time feminists fight for equality. Men should be
able to say, “Hey! Don‘t abort my child, I want to raise it and keep it.”
An
old friend of mine use to always go off on womens rights. She wasn’t a
hypocrate, though when my friend would go out on a date, she would pay for
herself, open the door for her date is she was closer, and works extra harad
for the positions she has. I know that there are some other feminists out there
like here, truly fighting for equal rights between sexes, but the number is
few.
