Remember, all you have to do is go, take notes, get a program of ticket stub,
and write a one-page journal (double-spaced) that is your review of the event.
The journal is due at the next class session.

| 4) Poetic Terms test poem assigned: "The Convergence of the Twain" by Thomas Hardy on pp. 777-778. The question is simply what sort of commentary is Hardy giving about the sinking of the ship? Develop an analysis that answer this question through a discussion of form, symbol, and theme. | ||

| Homework | 1) Journal 6: Write either a sonnet, a villanelle, or sestina for Class 24 or take a poem in the book we haven't read so far, analyze it on your own, and write a journal explicating the poem. | |
| 2) Memorize the poetic terms, practice scansion, and develop an analysis of the assigned poem ("Covergence of the Twain"--see above for the pages and the question that you'll answer) for the Poetic Terms test at Class 24. It's worth 40 pts. | ||
| 3) If you're revising, don't forget to write an interim draft, see a tutor with your newer version and your completed tutor sheet, get feedback, and write a new draft. Then turn in the complete packet of older and newer drafts by Class 25. | ||
| 4) Begin your research paper draft, which is due on the Thursday of Week 14. |
