English 1B
WEEKLY COURSE
SCHEDULE: Week 13
| Class 24 |
11/19 |
1) Poetry Test. Remember to have studied the poetic terms, the scansion, and "The Convergence of the Twain," (pp. 777-778 in your book), which is the poem that you'll be writing on. The question is simply what sort of commentary is Hardy giving about the sinking of the Titanic? Develop an analysis that answer this question through a discussion of form, symbol, and theme. |
| 2) Make sure that you get back your Discovery Draft for Paper when you turn in your test. | ||
| 3) Also make sure to turn in your Journal 6. | ||
| Class 25 |
11/21 |
Class Cancelled. Have a great Thanksgiving break! |
| Homework | 1) Continue to work on your research paper. The first draft is due at Class 27. Remember that it's essential you be there for our Draft Workshop, as you'll lose 25% of your final draft grade if you're absent (unless you have a documented excuse). And, again, there is no revision available for this paper. | |
| 2) Bring your Bedford Handbook Class 26. We'll do a thorough review of MLA documentation beginning at Class 26. | ||
| 3) Afternoon class reads "The Monologue of an Onion" p. 448 and Presentation Group 9 prepares for its presentation at Class 26. |
Note: The above assignments and deadlines are subject to change in the event of extenuating circumstances.
