WEEKLY COURSE SCHEDULE:  Week 9 


Extra Credit:

Remember, all you have to do is go, take notes, get a program of ticket stub, and write a one-page journal (double-spaced) that is your review of the event.  The journal is due at the next class session.

2) Dave will show one strong midterm essay and discuss "The Falling Girl."
3) Midterms returned: both short answer and written
4) Dave will check off your intro paragraphs.  He'll also collect your outlines to score.
    5) Share intro paragraphs and theses from Paper 2 and critique.
Homework 1) Bring your Bedford Handbook to the Draft Workshop, in case there are documentation errors you need to check. 
2) Complete your first draft (with the completed bibliography) for Class 17's draft workshop.

Draft Workshop
Homework 1) Finish your final draft of Paper 2 for Class 19.  Suggestion: write several more drafts and email them to one another for further feedback or come see Dave in his office.  
2) Group 7 prepares for its presentation. 
3) Morning class reads: "Sir Patrick Spence" p. 429, "Out, Out--" p. 431, and "For My Daughter" p. 443.
Afternoon class reads: TBA

Both classes read: William Stafford's "Ask Me" and his paraphrase of the poem on p. 436. Also "The Workbox" by Thomas Hardy p. 456 and "Dulce et Decorum Est" on p. 459.  And "Rites of Passage" by Sharon Olds on p. 454.  And finally, "The Fish" by Elizabeth Bishop on p. 504. 
3) Pronoun reference abusers anonymous: Read Section 23 (all of it) on this issue in the Bedford Handbook.  Check out the Bedford website at www.dianahacker.com/bedhandbook  The website has practice quizzes (that it scores for you) for the various areas I'll ask you to study.  If there's something you didn't understand, please bring the specific problem/question to class.
4) Look over assignment for Paper 3 (pp.56-57) and write Journal 5: What approach are you going to use for Paper 3 and why?  What do you plan to read?  What are your hunches so far about what you'll discover in your reading and writing?
